About the Team

Swiss Re’s IT department is seeking a Product Owner to lead the design and development of our IFRS 17 implementation. This role demands a unique blend of business analysis expertise, project management skills, and stakeholder management abilities. In this position, the role will be responsible for building and maintaining trusted relationships with business stakeholders with a deep understanding of their issues and challenges. The role will also establish efficient client service processes, collaborating closely with both business stakeholders and the IT/project delivery team to achieve business targets.
The Product Owner will need to fully comprehend the business benefits and urgency associated with various requirements to manage the backlog effectively. This role encompasses both project-specific responsibilities and routine operational management tasks, ensuring that all aspects of the implementation run smoothly. The position is based in Shanghai, China.

About the Role

IFRS 17 Solution Design and Development
•   Collaborate with finance, actuarial, and other teams to document detailed IFRS 17 solution requirements
•   Develop a comprehensive data model aligned with IFRS 17 granularity requirements
•   Design integration points between existing systems and the new IFRS 17 solution
•   Translate IFRS 17 requirements into technical specifications
Management & Coordination 
•   Facilitate collaboration between finance, actuarial, and IT teams
•   Manage relationships with software vendors & consultants and allocate resources effectively across different workstreams
•   Support management team in controlling project timeline for the IFRS 17 development phase
•   Identify and mitigate potential risks in the IFRS17 development process
 

About You

•   Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field
•   At least 10 years of total working experience, including a minimum of 3 year in finance system analysis or finance
•   Mandatory previous experience with IFRS 17 projects
•   Strong analytical skills and system design capabilities
•   Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis
•   Quick learner with a mindset focused on continuous improvement
•   Excellent communication, change leadership, and facilitation skills at all levels
•   Strong customer focus and well-developed conflict management skills
•   Initiative and ownership in role and work environment
•   Continuous improvement mindset, analytical in nature with ability to develop alternative solutions to problems and select the optimal solution
•   Familiarity with quality assurance and compliance regulations 
•   Sound decision-making skills and ability to take decisive action
•   Ability to align priorities of own area with the direction and priorities of the broader organization
•   Promotion of cross-functional teamwork - Discourage “we vs. they” thinking
•   Fluency in English and Mandarin
Desired
•   Experience in the insurance or financial services industry
•   Experience in finance system analysis or insurance business analysis
•   Team management experience is a strong plus
•   Experience in insurance/finance system implementation
•   Show Drive and Initiative – put in extra effort and work to accomplish critical or difficult tasks
