This is your opportunity to join one of the world's leading reinsurers and work with a multi-jurisdictional and diverse team of legal & compliance professionals. The Legal Counsel shall manage legal and compliance issues relating to Swiss Re's operations in APAC with specific focus on Hong Kong and Taiwan.

About the Role

•   Be a trusted, strategic partner to the business by providing timely, high quality legal advice and clearly articulating legal risks and opportunities; 
•   Draft and review of legal documents in relation to business transactions and initiatives;
•   Identify and mitigate legal risks in new business models and initiatives;
•   Apply legal practices, procedures and controls that are efficient and effective and comply with Group guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements;
•   Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and analyze their impact on Swiss Re;
•   Assist on regulatory issues in Hong Kong, including regulatory inspections and onsite reviews;
•   Enhance corporate governance particularly relating to operation in Hong Kong;
•   Manage legal advice related to general corporate matters, with a strong focus on corporate structure, regulatory and licensing matters;
•   Participate in Group and regional projects and other relevant tasks;

•   Apply highest ethical standards and maintain independence as a lawyer.

About the Team

You will work with a multi-jurisdictional and diverse team of legal & compliance professionals operating in a global organization and culturally diverse environment to provide legal advice to support Swiss Re's businesses and operations, while safeguarding sound governance standards.

About You

•   Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in law
•   8 years or above post qualification experience in financial institutions or law firms
•   Good communication and cross-cultural skills, fluent in English
•   Solid understanding of Hong Kong and Taiwan laws and regulations relevant to Swiss Re
•   Familiar with global/local financial industry's regulatory trend 
•   Strong business acumen, adaptive to change and agile
•   Attention to details and ability to work independently
•   Managing work independently, efficiently including proper prioritisation
